You may have seen in the news a story about a medal of honor recipient in Florida who is being forced by a local ordinance to remove his flag pole from his front lawn. This gentleman raises and lowers his flag daily according to all flag protocol.
It is a sad counrty indeed that legislates against raising the flag under the guise of reduced property values. Give me a break. Any property owner on any U.S. property should have the right to do this. The fact that you don't is a commentary on the rule of political power rather than the will of the people.
Here's a solution: Pass a constitutional amendment that requires ANY state or federal employee to be a veteran. Naysayers will quickly complain that so many existing bureaucrats would lose their jobs, our government could not function.; this is easily overcome by setting a date 20 years in the future for its' implementation. For those that say it's not fair: WHAT?
A deployment to Kabul would only add to anyone's resume. And I'm sure you could raise the flag.
